Liverpool are looking to strengthen their midfield at the end of the season and have set aside a significant amount of cash for the summer transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are hoping to bring in three midfielders at the end of the season. And the Merseyside outfit are already working on the deals to bring in such players in the summer transfer window
The Reds will lose players like Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner at the end of the season. All three players will be free agents in the summer, and the Reds have decided not to extend their contracts.
It is no surprise that they are looking to bring in multiple central midfield reinforcements. Apart from the three players that are expected to leave, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have regressed considerably. And they are no longer good enough to start every week for Liverpool.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham in recent months. The 19-year-old England international is one of the best young talents in world football, and he could prove to be a sensational acquisition for the Reds.
However, Liverpool will face competition from clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester City. Furthermore, Liverpool are unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season and will struggle to attract a player like Bellingham without making it to the top four.
Meanwhile, the Reds have been linked with a number of other midfielders in recent months. And it remains to be seen whether they can bring in the necessary reinforcements. Apparently, Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in two players who can slot into the starting lineup straight away. The German tactician wants another player who will add depth to his midfield.
Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic are the only players who have impressed in the middle of the park this season. So Liverpool will have to add considerable quality and depth in that position to challenge for major trophies once again.
