Premier League leaders Arsenal are looking to sign 27-year-old French international Adrien Rabiot ahead of next season.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Arsenal are likely to push for the signature of Adrien Rabiot in the summer. They are interested in landing a new midfielder in the summer and have identified the 27-year-old as a good fit for the club.
Rabiot’s current contract at Juventus expires in the summer. There are no talks about a renewal at this point in time, and he is likely to be a free agent after the end of the ongoing season. While Juventus would not want him to leave for free, the possibility signing an extension looks unlikely at this point in time.
The 27-year-old has been performing at a high level for over a year now. He was integral to France’s successful FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign. Les Bleus were missing quite a few star players due to injury. And the Juventus midfielder stepped up big time. He helped the defending champions go all the way to the final where they, unfortunately, ended up on the wrong side.
His performances in the World Cup and the ongoing season haven’t gone unnoticed. And, the fact that he will soon be a free agent has attracted a lot of attention from across Europe. The Juventus midfielder has featured in 26 matches so far and has eight goal contributions to his name.
Rabiot is on Arsenal’s radar. Mikel Arteta is keen on having him at the club ahead of next season. Despite signing Jorginho in the winter they want to add another midfielder in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners are set to return to the UEFA Champions League next season after seven long years. They will be eager to do well in Europe’s premier competition. And for that to happen, they will have to add a midfielder to their ranks.
Arteta wants more depth in the center of the park as it will allow him to rotate his squad and still maintain the standards on the pitch. Rabiot will arrive in a Bosman move, and his wages will be around €7 million per year. He seems to be a steal given his form of late.
