Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 28-year-old Naby Keita who will be a free agent in the summer.
According to a report by Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Naby Keita on a free transfer in the summer. Antonio Conte is looking for a midfielder and feels Keita could help his cause. The Liverpool midfielder has a proposal to return to RB Leipzig but he prefers staying in the Premier League.
The 28-year-old’s contract at Liverpool ends in the summer of 2023. And, a lot of clubs are interested in signing the Guinean midfielder. Keita’s former club RB Leipzig are keen on having him back at the club. They have offered him a deal but he has rejected an opportunity to return to Germany.
The Liverpool midfielder wants to stay in England and play for a top club. He is unlikely to sign a new contract and is expected to have a lot of offers on the table because of being a free agent. Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Spurs are interested in having his services.
Naby Keita joined the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2018 from Leipzig. Since his arrival at the club, he has featured in 128 matches and has 18 goal contributions. He has been a consistent performer for Jurgen Klopp’s team but of late injuries have made life difficult for the Guinea international.
In the ongoing season, he has only played 12 matches and has a total of 441 minutes under his belt. However, with his contract set to expire in five months’ time, he is looking for opportunities elsewhere. Keita has recovered from injury and is all set to take on a new challenge preferably in England.
Meanwhile, Spurs are interested in his services. They will enter the summer market with an aim to sign a midfielder. And, the fact that the 28-year-old will be available for free has attracted their attention. Conte will look to add more quality to the squad and he believes Keita’s arrival could solve a few of his midfield concerns.
The London-based club are not willing to pass up the opportunity to sign the 28-year-old player for free. Conte’s team are ready to offer him a good contract for the next few seasons. And, it will be interesting to see if the player decides to join them ahead of next season or not.
