Aston Villa are interested in signing 28-year-old Rayo Vallecano winger Isi Palazon in the summer.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa boss Unai Emery is keen on bringing Isi Palazon to Villa Park in the summer. The 28-year-old winger has been in sensational form in the ongoing season. He is one of the main reasons for Rayo Vallecano’s success in La Liga this season.
The Madrid-based club are currently sixth in the league and are just three points behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid. They have accumulated 32 points in their 20 matches so far and are fighting for a European spot. If they manage to keep their good work going they are likely to feature in Europe next season.
Their impressive run in the league is a result of a few of their players doing wonders on the pitch. And, one of their biggest stars this season has been Isi Palazon. The 28-year-old joined the club from Ponferradina back in the winter of 2020.
Ever since his arrival at the club, he has put in quite a few impressive performances. And, in the current season, Palazon has taken his game to another level. He is amongst the best dribblers in La Liga and as a result of it, he has been at the receiving end of quite a few fouls. The former Real Madrid youth product is the second-most-fouled player in the league behind Vinicius.
Palazon has made over 120 appearances for Rayo and has 34 goal contributions in those fixtures. In the ongoing season, he has featured in 22 matches and has been directly involved in 9 goals. His impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention.
But, as per reports, Aston Villa are leading the race for his signature. The former Villarreal manager Unai Emery is a big admirer of the player and wants to add him to his ranks. Aston Villa were initially struggling in the Premier League and that is when they decided to bring Emery to the club. Ever since he took over the role at Villa Park, he has turned around their fortunes.
The former Villarreal boss wants to enhance his team further and Isi Palazon is a priority target for the summer. The 28-year-old will cost around €20 million which is not really a problem for any Premier League team. Villa are likely to push for him and get the job done in the summer. Rayo Vallecano fans might just lose out on one of their biggest stars in five months’ time.
