Sevilla will reportedly look to re-sign 27-year-old French defender Clement Lenglet from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Clement Lenglet is the subject of interest from Sevilla. The Andalusian giants are keen on re-signing the 27-year-old from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Clement Lenglet started his professional career at AS Nancy before moving to Spain in 2017. And after a season with Sevilla, the French international joined Barcelona in July 2018. He began his spell with Barcelona superbly, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in La Liga. But his stock has fallen considerably since then.
The 27-year-old gradually fell down the pecking order at Spotify Camp Nou before Barcelona loaned him out last summer. And Lenglet joined Tottenham Hotspur on a season-loan loan deal. But the player has not been consistent enough thus far this season, although he has featured 20 times across all competitions.
It is unclear if Tottenham will sign the Frenchman permanently from Barcelona in the summer. But he will unlikely regain his spot at Spotify Camp Nou and embark on a new adventure. And former club Sevilla will look to re-sign Lenglet ahead of the 2023/24 season.
Sevilla bolstered the central defensive options in the summer transfer window after parting ways with Jules Kounde and Diego Carlos. But their centre-backs have not been consistent enough thus far this season. In addition, Loic Bade might not join Sevilla permanently in the summer transfer window. So the Andalusian giants need to invest in a centre-back in the summer.
Los Nervionenses have shown interest in several other players plying their trades at Tottenham. Sevilla re-signed Bryan Gil on loan from the north London club while showing interest in Pape Matar Sarr. And Lenglet might be another player who could be on his way to the Ramon Sanchez PIzjuan Stadium in the summer.
The 27-year-old Barcelona loanee has previously plied his trade for Sevilla and might settle down quickly at the club. But it will be interesting to see if the Andalusian outfit can strike a deal with Barcelona for the French international.
