Manchester United plan to sell Alex Telles with Sevilla keen

Manchester United wants to sell Alex Telles in the summer, with Sevilla keen to take the Brazilian international on a cut-price deal.

According to Estadio Deportivo via Sport Witness, Alex Telles is a target for Sevilla in the summer, with Manchester United open to selling the left-back. After an impressive spell, Sevilla could approach to sign him permanently.

Alex Telles will not look back fondly at the time spent at Manchester United. His transfer to Old Trafford in October 2020 may come across as a hasty decision by the club. They wanted to bring a cover for Luke Shaw, who was underperforming in the season before.

Telles started life at Manchester United in a decent fashion. Soon his performance dipped, and he became a passenger in a struggling side. Even last season, when Shaw was not available for long periods, the Red Devils used him as a left-back. With him in the team, they limped to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag deemed him surplus to requirements in the summer, and Telles swiftly sealed a loan move to Sevilla. Meanwhile, Manchester United signed Dutch full-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, and he has become a solid part of the squad.

Since Shaw has returned to form, Malacia has been consigned to a bench role for most parts. The pair will continue at left-back for next season. That would certainly spell the end for Telles at Old Trafford, with the club open to selling the 30-year-old Brazilian in the summer.

Sevilla are keen to sign him permanently in the summer as the Spanish side wants to conduct financially effective deals. The cash-strapped La Liga side is ready to consider negotiating with Manchester United for the 30-year-old. He will likely become available on a cut-price transfer.

The report insists Telles feels happy in Spain, where the Sevilla fans appreciate him. He has not played for the club since limping off in a World Cup game but will return this month to resume full training. He has provided two assists in 14 games for the La Liga side and could come back into the first team when fit.

With a year left on his deal, Manchester United might demand a modest sum in return for the 30-year-old. The club remain keen to take him off their wage bill. Sevilla and the Red Devils will have to thrash out a deal and find a swift agreement in the summer to close the chapter once and for all.
