Manchester United considered move for Houssem Aouar

Manchester United have enquired about Ligue 1 star Houssem Aouar hours before the transfer deadline day ends.

Manchester United are looking at a potential move for Houssem Aouar. The Red Devils have been in the market for a central midfielder in the past few days. According to Foot Mercato, the Red Devils are considering bringing Lyon midfielder Aouar to Old Trafford.

Christian Eriksen’s ankle injury during the FA Cup win over Reading last weekend has forced Manchester United into acting late in the transfer window. Eriksen will miss the majority of the action in the second half of the season. The Danish midfielder is likely to be out for several months.

Erik Ten Hag, who took over in the summer of 2022, has revived the club. Eriksen was one of his first signings, the Denmark international joined the club on a free transfer from Brentford. Ever since his arrival, the 30-year-old has been sensational in the middle of the park. He has been a key player for Ten Hag and has helped United put forward a strong case for a Premier League top four spot.

Eriksen has featured in 31 matches so far this season, and he has been directly involved in 11 goals. The Danish midfielder has been used in different roles by ten Hag, and he has delivered every time he was on the pitch. 19 of his appearances have been in the English top flight, where he has been directly involved in 8 goals.

The 30-year-old midfield genius has been a key part of ten Hag’s system, and his absence will be felt. In order to make sure that United do not suffer because of his injury, the Manchester United manager is pushing to sign a midfielder in the final hours of the window.

Ten Hag has identified Lyon’s Houssem Aouar as a potential replacement to help them keep up the good work. He has only made nine appearances for his club in the ongoing season. Aouar has struggled with injuries, and he has recently returned to action.

The 24-year-old’s contract at Lyon ends in the summer of 2023, which means he is likely to be a free agent in the summer. Manchester United have identified an opportunity to bring him in on loan and then sign him in the summer.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are pushing to land Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich. According to reports, Sabitzer is on his way to Manchester for his medical. But it will be interesting to see if there will be any last-minute change in plans for Manchester United. The Austrian midfielder is favourite to join the club. But, with a few hours left in the window, they can push to bring in another midfielder.
