Pedro Porro is set to join Tottenham from Sporting CP in a deal worth €45 million on the deadline day.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham will finally complete the deal for Pedro Porro on Tuesday. The north Londoners have agreed to a deal worth €45 million with Sporting CP, with the Spanish defender travelling for his medical ahead of the transfer deadline.
Pedro Porro has established himself as one of the most enterprising right-backs in the world at Sporting CP. A quintessential modern-day full-back, the Spaniard is menacing with his offensive output. In addition, he can also play as a winger on the right flank if the situation demands so.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed an excellent 2022/23 season thus far, chipping in with three goals and 11 assists in 26 appearances. Porro’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with Tottenham being keen on signing him throughout this month.
The north Londoners have been hot on the heels of the Spanish defender throughout the January transfer window. Tottenham remained determined to land Porro despite the threat of Real Madrid entering the equation. But they had hit a snag ahead of the transfer deadline on Tuesday.
Pedro Porro: “I’m grateful to Sporting, I love the club — I didn’t train as I was only focused on the transfer to Spurs but I will always be thankful to the club”. ⚪️✈️ #THFC

Talks between Tottenham and Sporting CP broke down on Monday, and the deal seemed dead and buried. But Spurs did not throw in the towel and reignited negotiations with the Portuguese outfit. And the two clubs have now reached an agreement over a deal worth €45 million for the 23-year-old.
Tottenham re-scheduled the medical checks for Porro, who has travelled to London to complete the move. And the north Londoners should be ecstatic about the breakthrough, considering the travails of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal. Meanwhile, Djed Spence is closing in on joining Rennes on loan on the deadline day.
Depending on how the medical concludes, Tottenham should seal the deal worth €45 million well ahead of the transfer deadline. Meanwhile, Sporting CP will likely sign Hector Bellerin from Barcelona to replace Porro. It will be interesting to see if the deal for the Spanish defender goes through at the Jose Alvalade Stadium. For now, Porro is on the verge of joining Tottenham.
