PSG in advanced talks to sign Hakim Ziyech

Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech is reportedly on the verge of joining PSG, with negotiations between the two clubs advancing.

According to a report by Foot Mercato, Hakim Ziyech will see his Chelsea stint end temporarily on Tuesday. The Blues are discussing a loan deal for the Moroccan playmaker with Paris Saint-Germain. And the player has rebuffed approaches from Newcastle United and Everton, as he wants to join PSG.

Hakim Ziyech has seen his progress stutter considerably since joining Chelsea from Ajax in July 2020. The 29-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge as the best player in the Eredivisie. But fitness issues and poor form have plagued him in the last two and a half years.

The Moroccan international has managed only 610 minutes of game time thus, starting six matches. And after a splendid campaign at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the player has been keen on leaving Chelsea. Such a situation has captured the attention of several clubs, including PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain sold Pablo Sarabia to Wolverhampton Wanderers a few days ago. And the Spaniard’s departure has left a spot vacant in the offensive unit at Parc des Princes. Ziyech has thus emerged as a viable target for PSG, with Les Parisiens negotiating a loan move with Chelsea.

The report claims that talks between Chelsea and PSG have advanced. And the 29-year-old is keen on joining the French champions after having discussions with a few PSG players. The latest update comes in the wake of reports that claimed that the Chelsea playmaker was closing in on joining AS Roma.

Everton and Newcastle United were also keen on signing Ziyech. But the Moroccan playmaker did not want to join either club. In addition, Chelsea did not entertain the idea of selling the player to Newcastle United either. And the former Ajax talisman is now closing in on joining PSG.

While talks between Chelsea and PSG have advanced, the two clubs are negotiating a potential purchase option. For now, the deal will not include any clause for PSG to sign the 29-year-old permanently. But it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can get favourable terms by the end of the transfer window.
