Tottenham prioritising Milan Skriniar move

Tottenham are reportedly prioritising signing 27-year-old Slovakian defender Milan Skriniar from Serie A club Inter Milan.

According to reputed Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are hoping to sign Milan Skriniar. And the 27-year-old Slovakian international has decided not to renew his contract with Serie A giants Inter Milan.

Apparently, Skriniar’s name is on the top of their wish list, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to make a move for him before the January transfer window closes. The player has been linked with other Premier League clubs as well.

This month is Inter Milan’s only opportunity to recoup some money for the 27-year-old, given his contract expires in the summer. Skriniar will be able to move on as a free agent at the end of the season.

Ideally, Inter Milan will not want to weaken their squad midway through the campaign. But the Serie A giants are powerless to stop him from leaving. The Slovak is also a top target for Paris Saint-Germain, apart from Tottenham.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old is eligible to secure a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club this month. So Tottenham could look to secure his signature this month, and the player would then join up with his new club at the end of the season.

Skriniar is undoubtedly one of the best defenders in Europe, and he could prove to be a sensational acquisition for Tottenham, especially on a free transfer. The north London club needs to improve their defensive options, and Skriniar would be an upgrade on players like Eric Dier, Clement Lenglet, and Davinson Sanchez next season.

Antonio Conte will know about the player, having worked with him at Inter Milan. And it remains to be seen whether the Italian manager can convince the 27-year-old to move to the London club. Conte will hope to challenge for the major trophies with Tottenham, and he needs to sign top-class players in order to do so.

Skriniar would be a quality acquisition for Tottenham, and he could transform them at the back. The Slovakian defender is comfortable in a back three as well as a back two and he could be the ideal partner for Cristian Romero at the heart of Tottenham’s defense.

Furthermore, the 27-year-old is at the peak of his career right now, and he could settle in quickly and make an immediate impact at Tottenham next season. He has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
