Arsenal set to table improved bid to sign Moises Caicedo

Arsenal will reportedly present an improved proposal worth £65 million soon for the in-demand Moises Caicedo, a target for Chelsea.

According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal will submit a new bid worth £65 million to sign Moises Caicedo. The in-demand Ecuadorian midfielder wants to leave Brighton & Hove Albion. And he is also a target for Arsenal’s London rival Chelsea.

Moises Caicedo has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League since joining Brighton & Hove Albion. The 21-year-old took some time to get going but has become a pivotal figure for the Seagulls.

The Ecuadorian international has turned out 31 times thus far for Brighton, chipping in with two goals and three assists. Caicedo’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. And Arsenal and Chelsea are two of the suitors keen on signing the player.

Mikel Arteta has been keen on bolstering the Arsenal midfield with a top-class holding midfielder for some time. That is because Albert Sambi Lokonga has blown hot and cold, while Mohamed Elneny is only an emergency option. Caicedo has thus emerged as a viable target for Arsenal. And the Gunners submitted a bid worth £60 million to sign the 21-year-old on Friday.

But Brighton swiftly rejected the offer, asking for a much higher sum to part ways with the young midfielder. However, Caicedo is keen on joining Arsenal and made a public statement on Friday night, asking Brighton to grant him a transfer. Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian midfielder is also a target for Chelsea.

The Seagulls recently also turned down a bid from Chelsea for their prized asset. The Blues need to sign a midfielder amid the uncertainties surrounding the futures of Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. And Caicedo has emerged as a top target for Chelsea this month. But the west Londoners have fallen behind Arsenal, who will soon present a proposal worth £65 million.

The reported offer, worth £65 million, might still be below Brighton’s asking price. Meanwhile, Caicedo will not feature again for the Seagulls until the end of the January transfer window. And it will be interesting to see if he has played his final game for Brighton amid the interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.
