Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in Real Madrid veteran Dani Carvajal, with Julen Lopetegui keen on a reunion.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Wolverhampton Wanderers have set their sights on Dani Carvajal. Julen Lopetegui wants to reunite with the Real Madrid veteran in the summer transfer window. And the Spaniard might have a temptation to move to the Premier League.
Dani Carvajal is currently in his second stint with Real Madrid. During his first spell, he rose through the ranks at La Fabrica after joining the club’s youth division as a ten-year-old. But the 31-year-old could not establish a foothold in the first team and joined Bayer Leverkusen in July 2012. And after a short stint with the German outfit, the player rejoined Real Madrid a year later.
Since then, Carvajal has gone from strength to strength, establishing himself as one of the best right-backs in the world. The Spanish international has turned out over 350 times for Real Madrid, chipping in with seven goals and 57 assists. But the veteran faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with the situation alerting Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Julen Lopetegui will likely look to overhaul the Wolverhampton Wanderers squad in the summer transfer window. And the former Real Madrid manager wants the Midlands outfit to sign a right-back. Such a sentiment is not unwarranted, considering Nelson Semedo and Jonny Otto have blown hot and cold.
Signing a solid full-back will be a part of the foundation for Wolverhampton Wanderers to stamp their authority in the Premier League. And Carvajal has emerged as a viable target for the Premier League club. But the 31-year-old is not the only Real Madrid veteran on the Black Country outfit’s radar, with Nacho another target.
As for Real Madrid, Los Blancos might not block a move for Carvajal, considering they are in the market for a right-back. And recent reports have suggested that Denzel Dumfries is a priority target for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Carvajal has previously suggested he wants to play in the Premier League.
With the Spaniard yet to completely regress, he can produce some top-class football at the Molineux. With Julen Lopetegui keen on a reunion, it will be interesting to see if the Real Madrid veteran joins Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer.
