Ligue 1 champions PSG are reportedly considering signing Real Madrid attacking powerhouse Vinicius Junior in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Vinicius Junior is the subject of interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 champions view the Real Madrid attacking powerhouse as a long-term replacement for Kylian Mbappe if the Frenchman departs from Parc des Princes in the summer.
Vinicius Junior kick-started the latest Brazilian revolution at Real Madrid, arriving from Flamengo in July 2018. The Brazilian international has gone from strength to strength since joining Real Madrid, becoming a talismanic figure for Los Blancos. At the same time, he has become a regular for the Selecao.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 campaign thus far, amassing 11 goals and five assists in 27 appearances thus far. And the player’s performances have made him a highly-coveted attacker in the market. Vinicius has now emerged on the radar of Ligue 1 champions PSG.
The French giants are in a precarious position over the long-term future of Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old is reportedly unsettled at Parc des Princes and might leave PSG in the summer. And his situation has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.
Several attackers, including Gabriel Martinelli, have thus emerged on PSG’s radar over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Ligue 1 champions have also shown interest in Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio. And Asensio’s teammate Vinicius Junior now features on PSG’s transfer wishlist.
Les Parisiens will launch the offensive for the Real Madrid attacking powerhouse if Mbappe leaves. But with relations between Los Blancos and PSG souring in the last couple of years, a deal seems improbable. In addition, Vinicius is well-settled at the Santiago Bernabeu and will unlikely look to leave Real Madrid.
So a summer deal might not be on the cards, and PSG will likely have to look elsewhere. But it will be interesting to see if they approach Real Madrid for an audacious move ahead of the 2022/23 season. For now, Vinicius Junior has emerged on PSG’s radar to become a possible replacement for Kylian Mbappe.
