Manchester United could target 24-year-old World Cup finalist Randal Kolo Muani to solve their centre-forward issues.
According to Give Me Sport, Kolo Muani is a target for Manchester United, but his asking price may prove problematic. Eintracht Frankfurt have no interest in selling the 24-year-old World Cup finalist in January. They could demand a significant fee in the summer, though.
The World Cup opened up many possibilities for clubs, with players coming to the fore in Qatar. Many clubs have tried to sign players available for a reasonable fee in January, but some may seem out of bounds. One of those is Kolo Muani, who could become the subject of a transfer tussle in the summer.
The 24-year-old World Cup finalist only joined Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer on a free transfer, and his value has skyrocketed. Muani’s displays at the World Cup with France caught plenty of attention, but the German side have no interest in selling him this month.
Muani has a contract until 2027, so Frankfurt might find themselves in a relaxed position. Yet, that does not rule out a summer move. German reporter Christian Falk recently suggested Frankfurt are unwilling to sell for even €100 million. The club could have received a few enquiries this month.
Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for the forward. A summer move could transpire as they continue their squad building. Erik ten Hag needs a new centre-forward to replace Cristiano Ronaldo but did bring in Wout Weghorst on a six-month loan deal.
The Dutch striker doesn’t seem like a long-term solution. There are chances Manchester United may not sign him permanently and dip into the market for a more concrete option. Tottenham’s Harry Kane remains linked with a sensational move to Old Trafford, but the club may look at younger stars.
The 24-year-old World Cup finalist could become a solid alternative to Kane, but he might end up costing similar to the England captain. For now, a move in January may seem difficult, but the Red Devils could approach in the summer to find out if a deal is possible.
His price tag may have put off several other interested parties. That could be why Kolo Muani’s name has yet to pop up much in this window. If Frankfurt intends to sell in the summer, many clubs other than Manchester United could make an approach.
