Chelsea playmaker Hakim Ziyech has reportedly offered his services to Barcelona following the departure of Memphis Depay.
According to a report by SPORT, Hakim Ziyech has offered himself to Barcelona. The Chelsea playmaker wants to replace Memphis Depay, who has joined Atletico Madrid this month. And the Moroccan international is keen on leaving Chelsea amid his struggles at the club.
Hakim Ziyech has endured a frustrating stint since joining Chelsea from Ajax in July 2020. He had arrived at Stamford Bridge as one of the best playmakers in the world. But a few fitness issues hampered the 29-year-old before he became a bit-part figure for the west London club.
Ziyech’s struggles have escalated this season, as he has managed only 520 minutes of game time across 14 outings. But the Moroccan international’s stock remains high after an impressive World Cup campaign with his nation. And the player has now offered his services to La Liga heavyweights Barcelona.
Barcelona will look to invest in an offensive reinforcement this month following Memphis Depay’s departure. The Dutch attacker has joined Atletico Madrid after getting frustrated at Spotify Camp Nou. And while he was not a regular for Barcelona, he has left a spot open in the attacking unit.
Several attackers have thus emerged on Barcelona’s radar, including Goncalo Guedes. And the Portuguese international was even keen on joining the Blaugrana before he rejoined Benfica. But Hakim Ziyech is also a viable target after the Chelsea playmaker offered his services to Barcelona.
The 29-year-old will bolster Barcelona’s creative options considerably, especially with Raphinha blowing hot and cold. But it is unclear if Barcelona will respond favourably to Ziyech’s offer. With their financial issues still lingering, the Catalan giants might not be able to afford to Chelsea playmaker.
As for Ziyech, the Moroccan international needs to leave Chelsea after they signed multiple attackers. The Blues have secured the services of Joao Felix, Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke. And it will be interesting to see if the former Ajax talisman will join Barcelona after offering himself to the resurgent La Liga heavyweights.
