Andriy Lunin eyeing Real Madrid exit

23-year-old Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin is reportedly considering calling it quits at Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Andriy Lunin will look to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old goalkeeper is fed up with his situation at the Santiago Bernabeu and wants to embark on a new adventure.

Andriy Lunin has seen his progress come to a grinding halt since joining Real Madrid from Zorya Luhansk in July 2018. The Ukrainian international was one of the best young goalkeepers in the world when he arrived a the Santiago Bernabeu. But he has barely featured for Real Madrid in the last half a decade.

Two loan stints away from Real Madrid — at CD Leganes and Real Oviedo — did not work out either. And Lunin has managed only 630 minutes of game time across seven outings thus far this season. The 23-year-old is thus invariably considering leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

The young goalkeeping ace should have ideally been one of the best goalkeepers in the world by now. But with Thibaut Courtois being the undisputed first-choice goalkeeper for Real Madrid, Lunin has struggled to make his mark. And the Belgian international will unlikely leave Real Madrid anytime soon.

So it behoves Lunin to call it quits at the Bernabeu and seek a new challenge in the summer transfer window. And according to Fichajes, the 23-year-old will look to leave Real Madrid at the end of the ongoing season. The report adds that clubs in the Premier League and the Bundesliga are interested in the youngster.

Fichajes does not specify any prospective suitors. But the early signs are promising for Lunin. Meanwhile, Real Madrid might make peace with the idea of parting ways with the Ukrainian shot-stopper. That is because they have shown interest in several goalkeepers, including Keylor Navas.

But it will be interesting to see if the reigning La Liga champions look to keep hold of the 23-year-old beyond the summer transfer window. For now, Lunin is fed up with his situation and will aim to engineer a departure from Real Madrid.
