Manchester United are positive about their chances of retaining teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho
According to a Caught Offside exclusive, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Premier League giants Manchester United are very optimistic about their chances of retaining Alejandro Garnacho.
The 18-year-old has got tongues wagging in his breakout season and continues to go from strength to strength. Garnacho has amassed 15 first-team appearances this season for the Red Devils, scoring twice and assisting five more.
Garnacho’s performances show that the youngster is ready to compete at the senior level. His willingness to work hard interspersed with his ability on the ball make him a well-rounded player primed for glory. One could argue that Man United potentially have a future superstar in their ranks.
The Argentine’s performances have not gone unnoticed across Europe. Real Madrid and Juventus are taking a keen interest in his situation and could make a move should an opportunity arise. However, neither team are yet to hold any discussions with the player regarding a potential switch.
Garnacho’s current deal at Old Trafford runs until 2024. Despite it winding down, the Red Devils are calm and remain positive that the youngster will pen an extension. Romano goes on to add that a deal could be struck in the coming weeks or months.
Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Old Trafford has reset the club’s rebuild and appears to have picked up some fresh steam. Garnacho has been one of the standout players for Man United of late and will only get better with more experience.
The Dutch boss has a track record of developing youth from his time at Ajax Amsterdam and also has a positive opinion of Garnacho’s abilities. The youngster could learn much by staying put and develop into a key part of Ten Hag’s plans should he build a new dynasty at the Theatre of Dreams.
A teenager going on to make a name for himself at Man United is nothing new, and Garnacho is in good hands at the club. Having already laid the foundations for a long and successful career, he is better off staying put and honing his game at Old Trafford.
As things stand, the Red Devils appear to have little to worry about and relax knowing they might not miss out on a special talent. Unless something goes awry in negotiations, it would appear that Garnacho will be donning the red jersey for years to come.
