Tottenham step up Leandro Trossard pursuit

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion forward Leandro Trossard.

According to a report from Daily Mail, Tottenham are exploring the opportunity to sign Leandro Trossard this month. And a move for the 28-year-old Belgian international could materialise towards the end of the month.

Leandro Trossard has been in fine form for Brighton this season, amassing seven goals and three assists in the Premier League. The Belgian winger can operate as an attacking midfielder as well, and Antonio Conte could certainly use someone like him in the final third.

Summer signing Richarlison has not been able to hold down a regular starting birth since moving to the London club. In addition, fitness issues have plagued the Brazilian international thus far. At the same time, Son Heung-min has not been at his best this season.

Tottenham have thus been overly reliant on Harry Kane for goals and creativity this season, and the England international could certainly use some help. Trossard is going through a purple patch right now and has emerged as a viable target for Tottenham.

The 28-year-old Belgian international will be a free agent at the end of the season, with the situation also attracting Chelsea. So he could be signed for a nominal price this month. Brighton will not want to lose a player of his quality as a free agent, and it makes sense for the Seagulls to cash in on him this month.

Tottenham are currently pushing for a place in the UEFA Champions League next season. And they will need to improve their squad in order to stay ahead of their rivals. Trossard is well-settled in the Premier League and could come in and make an immediate impact. And the report claims that Tottenham have stepped up their efforts to sign the 28-year-old forward this month.

The fact that he can operate in a number of attacking positions will add tactical flexibility and depth to Antonio Conte’s side. The report claims that a move might be possible towards the end of this month. Meanwhile, apart from a quality attacker, Tottenham should also look to bring in a right-back this month. And Spurs have shown interest in players like Pedro Porro.
