Leeds United are gearing up for a deal to bring in Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim in this January transfer window.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Leeds United have initiated a move for Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter this month. The French forward is keen to arrive in the Premier League.
Leeds are eyeing some much-needed offensive reinforcements and Rutter is at the top of their list. The youngster lit up the Ligue 1 with eight goals and four assists last term but hasn’t managed to replicate his form this time around.
But irrespective of his current stature the Whites are ready to spend the big bucks and could make a formal offer in the coming days. Jesse Marsch is not satisfied with his squad balance and feels the 20-year-old will bring a whole lot of new dimension to the side.
Blessed with sheer pace and efficient dribbling skills he can take on any defender and his direct running could be an asset in the pacey Premier League. Hoffenheim won’t stand in his way if a deal is to be done and both the parties feel an agreement should be reached for a fee of around €30-40 million.
Leeds have mostly relied on a certain 31-year-old Rodrigo for goals as Patrick Bamford has had very limited game time. They are quite dangerously hovering around the relegation zone and are just two points adrift of the bottom three.
Plettenberg insisted the player is a priority for Leeds and a deal is quite imminent.
He tweeted, “ Leeds United wants him NOW! Hoffenheim is aware of the interest and it could become a massive deal. Talks around a transfer fee between €30-40m. The 20 y/o is open for the move.”
Rutter came through the ranks at St Etienne and is a part of the next generation of French stars. He has enormous potential but needs some polishing before he gets to his actual self. The English top flight could be the ideal platform for the young forward to get into the rhythm as Leeds will be placing big bets on the player.
