Barcelona will reportedly demand €70 million to part ways with prodigious attacker Ansu Fati amid interest from unnamed Premier League clubs.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Barcelona will ask for €70 million to sell Ansu Fati this year. The 20-year-old prodigious attacker is the subject of interest from unnamed Premier League clubs.
Ansu Fati has been with Barcelona since arriving from Sevilla over a decade ago in July 2012. The young attacker rapidly rose through the ranks at La Masia before breaking into the first-team squad. And he became the second-youngest debutant for Barcelona in August 2019, making his bow before even turning 17.
The then-teenage prodigy seemed to be the long-term heir to Lionel Messi’s throne at Camp Nou. But a spate of long-term injuries has curtailed Fati’s growth in the last few years. And he is only just starting to overcome the hangover of his fitness issues by regularly featuring for Barcelona this term.
The 20-year-old will be relieved to have remained injury-free thus far in the 2022/23 season. And the prodigious attacker has four goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. But recent reports have pointed to the player facing an uncertain future at FC Barcelona amid his slowing growth.
The initial update suggested that Barcelona will look to loan Fati out this year to help him get his career back on track. But according to Fichajes, the Blaugrana might permanently part ways with the Spanish international. And Barcelona will demand around €70 million to offload the youngster.
The report claims that Premier League clubs are interested in signing the 20-year-old. But the Spanish outlet has not mentioned the specific outfits that want to sign the Barcelona attacker. Nonetheless, a move to the Premier League might be on the cards for the prodigious forward at the end of the season.
€70 million might be a steep asking price for a player whose performance levels have dropped. But a departure seems unlikely, considering Fati has been gradually improving. In addition, with Memphis Depay, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou, it is tough to see Barcelona selling the prodigious attacker.
