Newcastle United have joined Arsenal and Tottenham in the race to sign Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo from AS Roma.

According to a report from Roma Today, 23-year-old Italian international Nicolo Zaniolo is on the radar of Newcastle United, Tottenham, and Arsenal.

Recent reports claimed that AS Roma would look to agree on a new deal with the highly-rated Italian playmaker. But the Italian club have not managed to secure an extension yet. It appears that the player could be on the move in the upcoming windows and he is valued at around €50-60 million.

Newcastle United have now joined their Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham in the chase. The Magpies could definitely use more quality in the attacking department, and Zaniolo would be a quality long-term edition.

The Italian international is highly rated around Europe and could develop into a top-class player in the future. Newcastle are overly reliant on Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes for creativity, and they could certainly use an attacking midfielder like Zaniolo in the final third.

Newcastle United certainly have the finances to pay the reported asking price for the player, and it remains to be seen whether they can convince Zaniolo to join them. The Magpies are in a good position to secure UEFA Champions League qualification for the 2023/24 season, and they could attract the top talents if they managed to finish in the top four.

Newcastle are one of the richest clubs in the world, and they will be hoping to win the major trophies just like Manchester City following their takeover. Zaniolo could be a key part of their project going forward, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Meanwhile, Arsenal and Tottenham could use quality attacking reinforcements as well. Antonio Conte was reportedly interested in Zaniolo at the start of the season, but Roma refused to sell him back then.

As far as Arsenal are concerned, they have a quality attacking midfielder in Martin Odegaard. But Mikel Arteta needs to add more depth to his squad to challenge on all fronts. Zaniolo is versatile enough to play as a number ten as well as in the wide areas. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Gunners in the coming months. But with Newcastle in the equation now, it will be interesting to see how the story progresses.
