Real Madrid are prepared to spend a mindboggling €1 billion to entice Paris Saint Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe to Spain.
According to a report in Sportbible, Real Madrid could splash a staggering €1 billion in an order to facilitate a move for French forward Kylian Mbappe. The 24-year-old had a brilliant World Cup as he secured the golden boot following his excellent hat trick in the final against Argentina.
The youngster looked on course towards completing a free transfer to Madrid this summer as he even agreed to personal terms with Los Blancos. But the French giants returned back with a gigantic offer which the forward couldn’t refuse thus making him the highest-paid player in the world.
The player signed a two-year contract with the option for an extra year and can walk free in 2024 as the third year is depending entirely on the player’s wish. However, Madrid are unwilling to stretch their wish till 2024 and could raid the French club in the summer to lure him back to Spain.
Since the monopoly of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, there have been very few players who could match their goalscoring and given Mbappe’s recent form he could emulate those feats.
A hefty sum to the region of £132 million could be offered to PSG to convince them to hand over their prized asset to the Spanish giants. Madrid would also offer him a wage reflecting his current status and that could see him earning more than £550 million.
Mbappe’s bright years are yet to arrive and Los Blancos are betting big on him. Eden Hazard has looked like a pale shadow of himself and the Spanish giants are looking for suitors to offload him.
Madrid president Florentino Perez is regarded as the main man for transfers as he has pulled off a number of coups over the years. Karim Benzema is also nearing the twilight of his career and perhaps it is the time to invest in fresh young blood and the proceedings might start with the arrival of Mbappe at the Santiago Bernabeu.
