West ham United have set their sights on Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo as they are eyeing a replacement for Declan Rice.
According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are planning to raid Brighton & Hove Albion to snap up a deal for midfield sensation Moises Caicedo. The youngster was one of the breakout stars in the World Cup and Brighton will be flooded with offers when the transfer window opens.
Caicedo arrived amidst very little fanfare from Ecuadorian club Independiente in February 2021 and he took very little time to claim his presence in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old emerged as one of the midfield powerhouses and the recently concluded World Cup only verified the statement. He looked very comfortable with the ball and went on to prove his attacking instincts by netting a goal for his country.
Brighton won’t be able to keep hold of him any longer but they will be asking for at least £60 million to part ways with one of their most prized possessions. West Ham won’t mind investing that much behind a talent who will only grow with time.
The Hammers are destined to lose Declan Rice next summer and would use the fund to bring in a proper replacement in place of the player. Both Chelsea and Manchester United are locked in a transfer tussle for the English international and it remains to be seen who wins the ultimate race.
Brighton have emerged as a talent pool for Premier League clubs but they have failed to retain most of them. Caicedo’s dominating presence in the midfield has given the Seagulls a mode of assurance and the midfielder has been pretty brilliant in his all-round skills.
He can dictate the tempo of the game with his vision and can disrupt the opponent’s attack with his breakup play. The Hammers might be getting an upgrade over Rice as he has all the qualities to thrive on the English soil for a longer period.
West Ham are unlikely to have a smooth chase as few other clubs will certainly make a move if the situation permits.
