Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United will reportedly need to pay only £17 million to sign Josip Juranovic from Celtic.
According to a report by Sportske Novosti, Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United know how much they will need to pay to sign Josip Juranovic. Celtic will demand only £17 million to part ways with the Croat despite his World Cup heroics.
Josip Juranovic has seen his stock skyrocket since excelling at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Croatia. The 27-year-old had gone under the radar for much of his professional career. But he was world-class in Qatar, helping the Vatreni reach the semi-finals before eventually finishing third.
As for the Croat’s progress at the club level, he has gone from strength to strength since joining Celtic last year. Juranovic is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season, chipping in with one goal and one assist in 15 appearances thus far. And several European bigwigs have set their sights on the player after his World Cup heroics, including Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United.
Barcelona will need to invest in a right-back next year, with Hector Bellerin being a dud. The Spaniard arrived at Spotify Camp Nou as an emergency signing after the Catalan giants failed to sign their top targets. But Bellerin has shown nothing to warranty an extended stay, compelling Barcelona to identify Juranovic as a possible solution.
On the other hand, Chelsea will enter the market for a right-back after suffering in Reece James’s absence this term. The English international remains the undisputed first-choice right-back. But with Graham Potter having no other right wing-back solution, Juranovic has emerged as a viable target.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will look to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka next year. And Juranovic has emerged as an option to replace the 25-year-old. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Barcelona now know how much they will need to fork out to sign the 27-year-old. And Celtic will demand £17 million to part ways with the Croatian international.
Paying £17 million should not be a problem for either Chelsea or Manchester United. But it is unclear if Barcelona will be open to shelling out what seems like a meagre sum. It will be interesting to see where Juranovic plies his trade if he leaves Celtic next year.
