La Liga club RCD Mallorca are reportedly keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil on loan in January.
According to a report from Diario De Cadiz, La Liga club RCD Mallorca are now engaged in advanced negotiations with Tottenham regarding a January move for 21-year-old winger Bryan Gil.
The player was also linked with several other La Liga clubs, including Real Sociedad, recently. Gil has struggled to hold down a starting berth since joining Tottenham and was loaned out to Valencia last term.
He did manage to impress during his loan spell and was expected to complete a permanent move away from the London club at the start of the season. However, Tottenham did not want to weaken their squad without bringing in any reinforcements, meaning Gil stayed.
Things have not improved for the young winger despite working hard in pre-season. Gil has not started a single game for Antonio Conte’s side so far this season, and he needs to leave in order to play regular first-team football. And Tottenham might be ready to grant him his departure in January.
Mallorca need to add more attacking quality to their squad, and a move to the Spanish club would be the ideal option for the player right now. He would get to play more often and regular game time could help him get back to his best.
Gil was rated as one of the best young players in Spain prior to his move to Tottenham. The 21-year-old will be hoping to get back to that level again and fulfill his tremendous potential by playing in a familiar environment.
Mallorca are currently 11th in La Liga and will look to finish the season strongly by securing a top-half place. Gil could make an immediate impact if he joins them. He is no stranger to Spanish football and should settle in quickly.
The 21-year-old has a contract with Spurs until 2026 and will hope that a fruitful loan spell with Mallorca can help end his Premier League nightmare permanently. If he can impress with the Spanish outfit, there could be a number of transfer offers on the table at the end of the season. It will be interesting to see if Mallorca can get the deal over the line in the coming weeks now.
