West Ham United cool interest in Isaiah Jones

West Ham United in advanced talks to sign Ibrahim Osman.

West Ham United have reportedly pulled the plug on a move for 23-year-old Middlesbrough wing-back Isaiah Jones.

According to a report from Football League World, West Ham United were keen on signing 23-year-old Middlesbrough wing-back Isaiah Jones. But the Championship outfit are not keen on selling the player anytime soon.

West Ham have now moved on to other targets. The Hammers are looking to bring in a quality right-back, and they had identified Jones as a potential target.

The 23-year-old has done well in the Championship and could have been a quality long-term acquisition for David Moyes. However, Middlesbrough have recently sold players like Djed Spence and Marcus Tavernier. So the Championship outfit are in no need of money right now and have decided not to sell Jones in the upcoming windows.

The Hammers are set to lose Vladimir Coufal in the coming months, and Moyes will need to bring in a quality alternative. Jones has certainly shown that he is capable of succeeding at the highest level, and a move to the Premier League could have been the ideal next step in his career.

West Ham are an ambitious club with an exciting project and a move to the London club could have accelerated his development. It will now be interesting to see if Moyes can identify a suitable alternative to Jones and improve his defensive options in the upcoming windows.

West Ham have been quite vulnerable at the back this season, and they will need to improve defensively in order to finish the season strongly. Moyes had significant backing from the club hierarchy during the summer transfer window, and he will be expected to turn things around and help West Ham finish in the top half at least.

Apart from a quality right-back, West Ham could use reinforcements in their midfield and attack as well. The London club are severely lacking in the goalscoring department, and it remains to be seen whether they can bring in a quality striker. The Hammers have shown interest in Boulaye Dia.

As far as Jones is considered, the 23-year-old English wing-back will look to continue his development with regular football at Middlesbrough. If he continues to impress for the Championship outfit, there is no reason why he cannot secure a move to the Premier League in the upcoming windows. Meanwhile, West Ham have other right-backs, like Aaron Wan-Bissaka, on their radar.
