Manchester United ready to offer €55 million to sign Kim Min-jae

Manchester United have set their sights on Napoli defender Kim Min-jae and could raid the Serie A club for his services in the near future.

As per Spanish outlet Fichajes, Manchester United are adamant to win the race for Kim Min-jae. And the Red Devils are prepared to offer a whopping €55 million offer for the South Korean defender.

Manchester United are unlikely to undergo an imminent defensive crisis. But Harry Maguire’s struggles have forced the club to alternate their plans. The English defender’s contrasting form for his country and club have led many to believe that the 29-year-old might need a new stage to perform his heroics.

It would be a massive task for Manchester United to compile a number of suitors for the player, who has had an underwhelming season so far. The arrival of Lisandro Martinez has not favoured Maguire, and the Red Devils might be ready to listen to offers for the most expensive defender.

Manchester United had looked at Kim Min-jae before but did not decide to pursue their interest in the player and could have signed the player for peanuts. The defender has made a smooth transition to help Napoli to take an eight-point lead in the Serie A table. And the Italian giants have not felt the absence of their departed defender Kalidou Koulibaly for a single moment.

Kim followed that up with some monumental performances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where South Korea shocked Portugal to earn a Round of 16 berth. Despite Manchester United’s recent defensive solidity, they still need to close the gap with Manchester City, who have an array of defenders under their folds.

Raphael Varane’s lingering injury problems have also threatened to derail Manchester United’s juggernaut a number of times. And Erik ten Hag thus wants assurance which could only be executed by bringing an extra defender. Kim has thus emerged as a viable target. And the Red Devils are ready to fork out €55 million to sign him.

Kim has been ever present in the Napoli backline since arriving from Fenerbahce and is capable of physically bullying the opponent attackers. A number of his compatriots, like Son Heung-min, have already flourished on English soil, and he could also follow suit.
