Liverpool could move for Hirving Lozano

Liverpool are ready to pursue their interest in Mexican winger Hirving Lozano in the winter transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool could finally lay their hands on Napoli wide man Hirving Lozano as a move is currently being considered. The 27-year-old will enter the last year of his current contract next summer and Napoli don’t seem to be interested in extending his stay.

The Reds could target a number of attackers to reinforce their ailing squad as soon as possible. Injuries to Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have complicated Jurgen Klopp’s squad more as Darwin Nunez is yet to stamp his authority in the Premier League since his big-money move in the summer.

In this situation, the Merseysiders have been looking for some alternate solutions and Lozano could be the perfect player to add some much-needed depth to their squad.

He currently pockets around €4.5 million in Italy and the Naples giants want to get rid of his massive wages off the book. They will be looking to recoup most of the £36 million they paid to PSV Eindhoven but it could be difficult for them to get that sum for a player who doesn’t have much time left on his contract. Liverpool could lure him by offering him a significant rise over his current paycheck.

Liverpool tried to get the player under their folds in the past but failed to seize opportunities and it seems their time has finally come. He has the ability to operate from both the flanks and his flexibility could be something Klopp will be looking to cash in.

Last season’s runners-up have struggled to replicate their performance as inconsistency and injuries to key players have ravaged their season. This World Cup break will provide them with the perfect time to reassess their options and Klopp seems to have already figured out his plans in January.

Lozano could help Liverpool to get back to their menacing best as they could still find a place in the top four. The Mexican international hasn’t really fired up this campaign but might need a different kind of platform to outperform his contemporaries.
