Liverpool in advanced talks to sign Jude Bellingham

Liverpool are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, a target for Real Madrid.

According to reputed German journalist Christian Falk, Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Jude Bellingham at the end of the season. And the player’s family prefers a move to Anfield, thus handing a blow to Real Madrid.

Bellingham is on the radar of several other European clubs, notably Real Madrid. Apparently, Liverpool are ahead of the Spanish giants in terms of negotiations, and it will be interesting to see if they can lure him to the Premier League.

Bellingham has established himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe, and he has all the tools to develop into a world-class footballer. Liverpool are in desperate need of midfield reinforcements, and the 19-year-old would be a sensational signing for them.

With the likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expected to leave the club at the end of the season, Jurgen Klopp is thus under pressure to bring in quality midfielders in the upcoming transfer windows.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to bring in more than one central midfielder over the next few months. They have been linked with a number of players, including Moroccan international Sofyan Amrabat.

Bellingham has been exceptional for Dortmund since joining the club, and he has been exemplary for his country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup as well. The player is reportedly valued at €150 million, and Liverpool will have to smash their transfer record in order to sign him.

The opportunity to return to England could be a tempting proposition for Bellingham. And recent reports have given Liverpool an edge over other suitors like Real Madrid in that regard. In addition, as per Christian Falk, the Reds are more advanced in talks than Real Madrid.

That said, Real Madrid are the biggest club in Europe, and they have the financial resources to sign the player. There is no reason why they cannot turn the player’s head and convince him to snub a move to the Premier League and move to Spain instead.

Liverpool will probably have to seal UEFA Champions League qualification to sign players of his quality. So it remains to be seen whether Klopp can guide his side to a top-four finish this season after a mediocre start to their campaign.
