Real Madrid might have to toil hard if they are to conclude a deal for AC Milan winger Rafael Leao in near future.
According to a report in SPORT, it will be very hard for Real Madrid to secure a move for AC Milan hotshot Rafael Leao. The Portuguese international attacker has been attracting interest from everywhere, but it would seem he would stay in Italy at least for the time being.
Leao arrived in Italy in 2019 from Lille and has been a pivotal part of the Milan setup since then. He has emerged as a crucial piece in Stefano Pioli’s setup, and the manager has also showered praise on the player for his exemplary skills on the pitch.
A product of Sporting CP academy, Leao has already alerted a number of clubs of his availability as the player has not committed to a new contract at AC Milan. But Pioli insisted that the youngster will be convinced to extend his association further with the club.
“Two things are sure, that he is well with us, because I see and talk to him, and that Rafa and the club are talking. We are waiting for good news. I believe that his path with us is not yet finished, I see that we are well together.”
The Portuguese international will enter the last year of his contract next summer. But the Rossoneri have been in constant dialogue with his entourage as they are eyeing a brand new deal which will also have a massive release clause.
Real Madrid have looked at the 23-year-old as a possible replacement for Eden Hazard, who has looked completely out of touch since arriving in Spain. The Belgian forward has failed to justify his price tag, and Los Blancos could offload him if an interested party arrives.
AC Milan will demand an outrageous amount if the player is to leave San Siro. But Real Madrid won’t entertain such attempts, hence making him an impossible target. They might wait for the summer of 2024 if the player fails to agree to a new deal, and he will be eligible to negotiate a move with the Spanish giants.
