Manchester United will have to shell to the tune of £60-70 million if they are to welcome Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder, Moises Caicedo.
According to a report in the Sun, a £60-70 million sum would be sufficient for Manchester United to lure Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion. The Red Devils are believed to be keeping a tab on the player and are willing to make a deal.
The Brighton ace made his Premier League debut this year but has already been heralded to be the next top midfielder on English soil. Brighton beat off competition from a number of clubs including United as they snapped him up from a relatively unknown Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle for an amount exceeding just more than £3 million.
The race to land the midfielder is heating up with each day passing and United are leading the line. Erik ten Hag brought in both Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in the summer but a combative midfielder like Caicedo would definitely add a new dimension to his system.
United are designated to add at least one midfielder in the summer and Caicedo’s chances of donning that jersey are pretty high as things stand. The youngster already illustrated his ability in the World Cup as Ecuador almost breached the round of 16 in the ongoing World Cup.
Brighton have had the knack of letting their prized assets leave for a premium in the recent past and there have been indications they will be ready to part ways with the player if an interested party is ready to meet their price.
Caicedo has been ever present for the Seagulls as he has been pulling the strings in the midfield with relative ease. He has shown enormous maturity while rubbing off with his opponents and will only grow in stature further.
Ten Hag is building a squad for the future and a player like Caicedo could definitely be the focal point of his team. A move in January seems not to be in the plan as a transfer in the summer is more likely suitable.
