Arsenal are reportedly plotting a summer move for VfL Wolfsburg winger Omar Marmoush on a free transfer.
According to a report in Tribal Football, Arsenal could be in for Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush. The 23-year-old winger’s current contract will be up for expiry in the summer, and he will be eligible to join any club in a Bosman move next summer.
The Gunners continue to search for reinforcements, with Mikel Arteta already accepting the fact that his squad is very small to compete on all fronts. And he has been searching for the right kind of player.
The Arsenal boss has delivered big time this season as the North London giants have beaten off competition from the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool to capture the pole position in the Premier League.
Amidst the recent talks, Arsenal have stayed focused on their path and have already started chalking their plans for the next transfer window. An attacker is deemed very necessary by the Gunners’ management, and they have identified Marmoush as a possible candidate.
The 23-year-old spent the 2021/22 season on loan at Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart but has been involved in all games for Wolfsburg this season. Talks over a new deal have failed to materialise and the German side can capitalise on him to earn a few bucks in January.
A move in the summer looked on the course but that transfer never happened and Arteta is pretty keen to have him under his disposal as soon as possible. He had a valuation of £17 million in the summer but the Germans won’t be claiming that much as he has only six months left in his contract.
Arsenal are also interested in Cody Gakpo who has lit up the World Cup with his skills. But pursuing a deal for the Dutch winger would involve a lot of finances which might be a bit difficult in this kind of inflated transfer market.
Marmoush is also dreaming of plying his trade in the Premier League and should an opportunity arise he would be delighted to ride on it. He would be a cheaper option in comparison to Gakpo who would command a fortune given his recent trickery on the pitch.
