Tottenham to use Ivan Perisic to get a deal for Josko Gvardiol over the line

Tottenham Hotspur could use Ivan Perisic to convince Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol in securing a transfer to the North London club.

As per Tuttomercatoweb, Tottenham Hotspur are very keen to lock in a deal for Red Bull Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. The youngster has emerged as Spurs’ new subject of interest.

A new defender has been at the top of Antonio Conte’s agenda and he will be provided sufficient funds to continue his rebuilding. The North Londoners are still a challenger for a place in the top four and they will be adding at least one defender to their ranks in the summer.

Clement Lenglet will be rejoining Barcelona following the fulfilment of his loan spell while Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier haven’t been at their best. Gvardiol joined the Bundesliga giants from Dinamo Zagreb in 2021 and has made a lot of difference since then.

His long-term contract could cause a lot of problems but Conte will use one of his trusted disciples to break the deadlock. Ivan Perisic who also happens to be his national teammate will be used to persuade the player to make a switch to the Premier League.

The 20-year-old is tipped to be the next big thing and Tottenham will not have a smooth way as the defender will have a number of potential suitors waiting in the wings for him.

Leipzig will try their best to fend off suitors for him and will demand a fortune to let the player leave the club. A deal in January would be difficult as a summer move seems more realistic.

The North Londoners haven’t had a smooth ride in the Premier League and managed to get away with a number of frustrating results. The Italian manager is determined to end Tottenham’s trophy drought and will try to seize every opportunity he gets.

Conte already got to audition the player in the ongoing World Cup as the youngster was heavily involved in both of Croatia’s group stage games so far. The interest may be intensified and the North London club could launch an unlikely swoop for the player at the start of the next year.
