Newcastle United are contemplating a potential move for SC Braga’s talented winger Roger Fernandes in the January transfer window.
As per A Bola, Newcastle United are seriously considering renewing their interest in Roger Fernandes in January. The Magpies will be heavily involved in the winter transfer window as they do not want to lose their current momentum.
The Tynesiders have kept their dream alive in the Premier League and are chasing Arsenal and Manchester City to bridge the gap in the table. Following their exciting performances after the takeover, Newcastle United have increased their efforts this time and have looked pretty determined to carry on with such intent.
Roger Fernandes was a subject of interest in the summer, and Newcastle United did approach the Portuguese club but had to come back empty-handed as they were not ready to part ways with the talented winger.
This season it has not been the case as the 17-year-old has barely featured as manager Artur Jorge does not seem to be impressed by his work on the flanks. Despite his limited time on the pitch, Roger Fernandes has already netted two goals. And that explains why Newcastle United so keen to snatch him.
It is not clear what Braga’s plan is with the player as he does have a pretty lengthy contract until 2024. And the Magpies will tease their patience with a worthy bid at the start of the next year.
Dubbed the next big thing, the 17-year-old has shown enormous promise but might need time to acclimatise to the English condition should he join Newcastle. A product of the Braga academy, his performances have already alerted big clubs. And Ajax and Atletico Madrid are also exploring possibilities to bring him to their respective clubs.
Australian starlet Garang Kuol is slated to join Newcastle in January from Central Coast mariners, and he could be joined by Fernandes, who is not quite content due to his current situation. Braga will try to grind out as much money as they can, and this negotiation could be elongated if both parties cannot agree on a fee pretty easily.
