Manchester United eyeing Harry Kane as Cristiano Ronaldo replacement

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has emerged as Manchester United’s priority target as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per Fichajes, Manchester United want to get a deal done for Harry Kane as they continue to search for a potential candidate to replace Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward has been released from his current contract after a series of incidents.

Manchester United terminated Ronaldo’s contract as they decided not to continue their association with the player further. The move came after the 37-year-old was involved in a very controversial interview with Piers Morgan, highlighting a number of issues at the club.

That did not sit well with both the management and Erik ten Hag, who unanimously projected Ronaldo out of the club. The hierarchy, too, backed the process, and Manchester United will have to now search for another striker who must have the hunger to replace Ronaldo’s goals at the club.

Kane has been linked with Manchester United for a long time. But Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is known to be a staunch negotiator, and he is expected to slap a high price tag on the 29-year-old.

Kane has certainly been Tottenham’s most sought-after player, and his departure could bring the curtain down on their recent emergence. The England captain was on the verge of moving to Manchester City in the summer of 2021, but the move was foiled due to their high demand.

Manchester City brought in Erling Haaland this past summer, ending Kane’s hopes to play under the stewardship of Pep Guardiola. Erik ten Hag will be aware of his potential and will not mind him being the focal point of the Manchester United attack.

There is no doubt over Kane’s talent as he has been the one-man force for the North Londoners. Bringing him to Old Trafford would allow him to compete for trophies in the near future.

But a move in January is almost impossible as Tottenham would never want to strengthen their top four rivals in the midst of the season. Manchester United will still be hopeful of conquering the mountain, but they perhaps would need to break the bank if they really have the desire to welcome Kane to Manchester.
