Manchester United could be lining up a move for Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram in January.
As per Rudy Galetti, Manchester United could express their interest in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram. The club has been pretty keen on adding another attacker in January.
Thuram was recently rewarded for his impressive performances as the 25-year-old joined the French squad in the World Cup. He is not expected to be involved pretty frequently but will get the necessary exposure required to establish himself at this level.
United finalized the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo as the club announced his departure in an official statement. It is not clear whether the player has been guaranteed a payout as compensation as he has foregone a large part of his entitled salary.
There has been a feeling of frustration as Erik ten Hag has been unable to turn the wheels of his forwards. Barring Marcus Rashford none of the forward players have resurrected their form, while Anthony Martial has had a long injury layoff.
Thuram’s contract will expire in the summer and Monchengladbach will be ready to do some business in January. Having signed the player from Guingamp in 2019, the Germans will be hoping for a little profit.
United are not the only club waiting for the player in the wings as Inter Milan are also ready to offer the player a contract. The Nerazzurri want to execute the deal as early as possible but the Red Devils can interrupt their proceedings.
They brought in Antony from Ajax this summer to end their scoring woes but the club is without a proper centre forward for the time being and signing one such profile would be of massive importance.
Their summer investment won’t likely affect their January plans as United remain one of those clubs that can afford two back-to-back expensive transfer windows. Thuram hasn’t attracted much attention and the Red Devils could keep their interest under wraps as of now.
Ronaldo’s departure would free up a whole lot of wages and it could be the start of a new journey from now on.
