Arsenal are considering an approach for 20-year-old Italian midfielder Nicolo Rovella, but Juventus remain uninterested in a sale.
According to Calciomercatoweb, Arsenal are interested in Nicolo Rovella and are willing to approach him. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder has excelled during his loan spell at Monza, but Juventus are uninterested in a sale.
Nicolo Rovella’s performances at Monza have caught the attention of many sides, including the Premier League. The 20-year-old Italian midfielder has played close to 100 first-team games and has all the ingredients to succeed at a top club.
Juventus acquired him in the summer of 2021, paying a hefty sum of €26 million before loaning him back to Genoa to continue the midfielder’s development. They wanted him to gain more experience and agreed on another temporary deal, this time to Monza, where he has been excellent this season.
Manchester City have monitored him and considered approaching. They are now joined by Arsenal in the hunt. Mikel Arteta is in the market for midfield options and bringing someone he can develop into a bonafide star in north London.
The defensive midfield position is a bit problematic for the Gunners considering they need a viable cover for Thomas Partey. The Ghanaian international has been excellent under Arteta, although his injury record tends to hurt the team when he remains absent.
One of Arteta’s priorities is to bring a cover for Partey as Arsenal continue to explore options in the market. Palmeiras’s Danilo is a target in January, but the Arsenal boss might look at other ideas, including Rovella.
The 20-year-old Italian midfielder is an important part of Juventus’s future, despite not featuring in Massimiliano Allegri’s current plans. The Serie A giants hold him in high regard and may not entertain offers from anywhere. His contract, which lasts until 2026, lets the Bianconeri relax about possible overtures from English teams.
Juventus could reportedly consider Arsenal’s interest if they are willing to include one of William Saliba or Gabriel Martinelli in part-exchange. The Gunners would throw those ideas out of the window. They value the duo highly and continue to work hard towards extending their current deals in 2024. As for Rovella, the 20-year-old could evaluate all options at the end of the campaign. He would be craving to become a regular part of Juventus.
