Manchester United are set to tie Alejandro Garnacho down to a long-term contract to fend off various interests.
As per a report in the Daily Star, Manchester United are ready to broker a new deal for Alejandro Garnacho who has made the headlines in the last few games. The youngster will likely be involved more often once league football resumes after the conclusion of the World Cup.
Garnacho burst onto the scene as he got promoted to their senior setup this season but he had to wait for a long period to get himself acclimatised to Erik ten Hag’s system.
His attitude problem could have smeared his hard work as mentioned by both Bruno Fernandes and the manager but the player has managed to hold his head high with some excellent performances and he is now set to be rewarded with improved terms.
The teenager has been on a £5,000 per week wage till now but will get a bumper pay rise as the hierarchy will likely offer him a tenfold hike to his current salary.
Talks of a new deal have already been initiated and a deal is said to be on the verge of completion. Garnacho has already challenged the likes of Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho and much will be at stake when they return to the scene in December.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keeping an eye on his situation as the Madrid-born youngster has created quite a stir among Europe’s biggest clubs. The 18-year-old represented both Spain and Argentina at the youth level and has the eligibility of representing both nations.
His preference has always been Argentina but following a World Cup snub, he might switch his allegiance to Spain. Garnacho has shown immense maturity since being handed a chance and his last-gasp winner against Fulham is only proof of that.
A cool and composed finish could only be a start of a long journey at United as he is destined for the greatest glory. The new contract could be an indication of ten Hag’s confidence in the player who has already entrusted Garnacho with a massive opportunity.
