Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe has been linked with a move to Liverpool and Manchester United at the end of the season.
According to a report from Defensa Central, Liverpool and Manchester United are currently vying for the services of Kylian Mbappe after Real Madrid decided to move on from the French international.
Mbappe was heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. But the player chose to snub Real Madrid and signed a contract extension with PSG. However, things have not gone according to plan for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, and he wants to leave the French club in January.
However, it is fair to assume that PSG will not let Mbappe leave midway through the season. So any move would have to wait until the summer transfer window for Liverpool and Manchester United.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is unhappy with the way Mbappe snubbed a move to Spain and signed a lucrative contract with the French club. Real Madrid have thus decided to move on for him, and they are unlikely to pursue him at the end of the season. That leaves Mbappe with Liverpool and Manchester United as his only options next summer.
Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old for years, and it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp can pull off the transfer in the coming months. The Reds will have to shatter their transfer record in order to land the Frenchman. And it remains to be seen whether Fenway Sports Group are willing to back their manager with substantial funds in the transfer market.
A player like Mbappe could transform Liverpool in the final third, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. Meanwhile, Manchester United could use a star forward next season, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo set to leave the club. So the interest in Mbappe makes sense.
Mbappe is already a world-class player, and he is destined to develop into one of the greatest players of his generation. The Frenchman could help Manchester United return to their former glories and the Red Devils have the financial muscle to pull off the transfer as well.
