Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their interest in Sporting Lisbon right-back Pedro Porro, who is also a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to a report by Jornal de Noticias, as relayed by Sport Witness, Sporting CP right-back Pedro Porro has emerged as a subject of attention from Tottenham Hotspur as the Premier League side wants to rope in the player. The Spanish international is also a target for Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Antonio Conte wants to make some significant changes in January, and securing a right-back is his topmost priority. Both Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal have failed to justify their price tags, and the Tottenham manager wants a new face to provide some competition to them.
Spurs will listen to offers for both Doherty and Emerson, and one of them certainly will leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in winter. Djed Spence is also in their ranks, but the youngster might find it too soon to appear in top-flight football and could be set for a loan spell anywhere else.
Despite being at Manchester City, the Spanish international did not play a single game for the reigning English champions and left the club for Sporting CP for an initial two-year loan deal.
Having been impressed by his ability, Sporting decided to make the deal permanent and the player has since been a pivotal part of the club. Real Madrid and Barcelona are also gearing up for a possible transfer battle as both clubs have made their intentions known. They pursued him in the summer as well.
Dani Carvajal’s persistent injury issues could pose a real threat, while Lucas Vazquez is edging towards his last year of the contract. A decent upgrade would be of utmost priority for Real Madrid, and securing Porro’s signature could be a very important move for the club.
For Barcelona, both Alejandro Balde and Sergi Roberto have shared the responsibility. But Xavi would like to add a right-back as Hector Bellerin has not really been used following his arrival from Arsenal on a free transfer.
The Catalan giants are currently in a financial crisis and would be a bit cautious while approaching the Portuguese side for Porro’s availability. Tottenham won’t lose hope despite the stiff competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid and would use all their resources to structure a move for the 23-year-old.
