Cristiano Ronaldo in contact with Bayern Munich

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is in touch with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich

Hot on the heels of his bare-all interview with Piers Morgan, Manchester United superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with a move to German giants Bayern Munich.

According to The Daily Mail, the Portuguese ace is keen to bid goodbye to Old Trafford next January and appears to have had enough of his second coming to the Theatre of Dreams. The player for his part feels betrayed by the club, and new manager Erik ten Hag, who he believes are forcing him out.

Ronaldo, with superagent Jorge Mendes in tow, met with Bayern officials who flew in to talk to him last week. A move to the Bundesliga will mark another chapter in what has been an illustrious career at the very top of the football food chain.

The 37-year-old seeking pastures new is not breaking news considering how Mendes offered him to various clubs last summer. None bit the bait, and Ronaldo stayed put at Old Trafford. He has failed to knuckle under, and frustration is very clear from his on and off-field antics.

One could argue that Ronaldo’s biggest rival, Lionel Messi continues to shine in the UEFA Champions League, while the Man United star has had to lick his wounds in the UEFA Europa League. With a top-four spot far from guaranteed, it would appear the 37-year-old is in no mood to stick around.

Unfortunately for the Red Devils’ star, Bayern do not appear to be too enthused about landing his services. The Germans could do with another attacker, but Ronaldo does not appear to be on their radar anymore.

Bayern chief executive Oliver Khan had earlier exclaimed that the player does not fit in and little appears to have changed. Not only will Die Roten have to deal with a player who loves shooting off his mouth, but also pick up his mammoth £570,000 a week wage bill. Given that Ronaldo isn’t the star he once was, the Germans are better off flushing that money down the drain.

They say one should never get back together with their ex, and in the case of Ronaldo and Man United, it has proven prophetic. The second coming was supposed to be the final piece in the Jigsaw, but instead, it appears to have the purveyor of events that bring an end to the relationship between the Red Devils and their star player.

There appears to be no coming back from the comments he made to Piers Morgan and a parting of the ways might prove to be the best bet for all parties involved.
