Tottenham Hotspur will sit down with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to discuss a new potential deal for the Danish midfielder.
As per Football Insider, Tottenham are willing to reward Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg with a bumper new contract for his consistent performances in the middle of the pitch.
After Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, Hojbjerg has emerged as the most sought-after player in Antonio Conte’s squad and he has been a regular in the Spurs lineup this campaign.
He alongside Rodrigo Bentancur has been the catalyst in the North Londoners’ revival and the 27-year-old is now set to be offered fresh new terms to extend his association with the club.
The Denmark international arrived from Southampton at a knockdown price in 2020 and since then hasn’t signed on the dotted line on a new contract. He has been one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier League and has been the heart of Conte’s team.
The player currently pockets around £95,000 per week which roughly comes to around £5 million per year. He currently has a contract until 2025 and if he commits to his long-term stay at the club he will get a significant pay rise which will take him to the same level as the likes of Hugo Lloris and Kane.
The hardworking midfielder has also sharpened another dimension of his playing aspects as he has been finding the net pretty often this season. His return of four goals already bettered his last year’s tally and he will definitely add a few more until the end of the season.
He will also play a pivotal role for Denmark in the World Cup and he alongside Christian Eriksen will have the onus to lead the team from the midfield. Hojbjerg gave another spirited performance as the North Londoners came from behind twice to inflict a 4-3 defeat on Leeds United.
Conte will be aiming for a title charge after the World Cup break and keeping Hojbjerg at his disposal is very important for Spurs. He will not be the subject of much fanfare in January but the Premier League outfit cannot afford to take a risk.
