Leeds United are reportedly weighing up a “£3 million-plus” move for Birmingham City’s teenage midfielder George Hall.
Leeds United are planning to make a fresh offer for Birmingham City midfielder George Hall after having had a £3 million bid rejected for the 18-year-old in the last summer transfer window.
That’s according to Football Insider, which claims the midfielder has been identified as a long-term target, and the Premier League club are lining up an improved bid to bring the Blues back to the negotiating table for their prodigy.
Hall has been identified as an “outstanding young talent capable of developing into a Premier League-level player” by the Whites’ talent hunters. Hall, who turned 18 years old just last month, is currently enjoying his breakout season in the second tier, racking up 16 appearances in the Championship this season, albeit many of which are cameos, and directly contributing to two goals in the process.
Hall’s current contract at St. Andrews is reportedly set to run until 2024. The player has anticipated to feature regularly this season, which is why he decided to stay with the Blues and signed a new contract despite Premier League interest.
However, Hall has recently struggled for starts, which has alerted top-flight suitors, Leeds United, who may try their luck in the upcoming winter transfer window with a testing bid.
Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta have placed a strong emphasis on recruiting for their youth ranks in the previous window, with that recruitment philosophy bearing fruit in the first-team, most notably in the Whites’ 4-3 win over Bournemouth, where their youth revolution got them over the line.
Sam Greenwood, Joe Gelhardt, Wilfried Gnonto, Crysencio Summerville, and even Pascal Struijk are all proving their worth at the Premier League level. Summerville, for one, has now found the back of the net in three Premier League games in a row, with two match-winning goals earning vital points in their top-flight survival bid.
Hall could follow in the footsteps soon, joining an impressive pool of youngsters in the upcoming January transfer window, with the Peacocks leading the race to sign the Birmingham City starlet. When coupled with Orta’s well-known desire to add the most exciting youngsters to Leeds’ academy ranks, it is easy to see why the Spaniard would be interested in bringing the teenager to Elland Road.
