Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing rising Spanish defensive prospect Alejandro Balde from Barcelona in 2023.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alejandro Balde is the subject of interest from AC Milan. The Serie A champions are closely monitoring his situation at FC Barcelona. And the Rossoneri will launch the offensive for the Catalan club’s rising star if he does not sign a new deal.
Alejandro Balde has long been one of the most highly-rated full-backs in Spain. Throughout his years at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, the 19-year-old was an excellent performer. And after making his first-team debut last season, he has established a foothold in the first-team squad at Camp Nou this term.
The rising star in Spanish football, he has turned out 15 times for Barcelona in the ongoing campaign, chipping in with three assists. Balde’s progress has not gone unnoticed either, with several clubs setting their sights on him. And AC Milan might launch the offensive for the Barcelona prospect soon.
Stefano Pioli currently has two left-backs at his disposal at San Siro. But while Theo Hernandez has been a top-class performer for AC Milan, Fode Ballo-Toure has blown hot and cold. And the Senegalese defender has not started a game since a disastrous performance against Chelsea over a month ago.
AC Milan might thus look to offload Ballo-Toure in the summer transfer window and bring in a replacement. Balde has hence emerged as a viable target for the Rossoneri, with the Barcelona defender’s contract situation being the focus point. And AC Milan will launch the offensive for the player if he does not sign a new contract by the end of the season.
Recent reports have claimed that Balde is in talks with Barcelona to extend his stay at Camp Nou. The Catalan giants are hopeful of securing the 19-year-old rising star’s future by tying him to a long-term contract.
But if the negotiations drag on for months, AC Milan might start fancying the prospects of signing the teenage prodigy. However, it seems highly unlikely that the Serie A champions will succeed in prising Balde away from Barcelona next year.
