Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on the RB Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs.
According to a report from 90 Min, Manchester United are keen on adding more depth to the right-back position, and they have identified the German defender Benjamin Henrichs as a potential target.
The 25-year-old has done well at the Bundesliga club this season and he could be a quality alternative to Diogo Dalot. The 23-year-old Portuguese international has established himself as the first choice right back under Erik ten Hag, but United are lacking in depth in that position.
Former Crystal Palace player Aaron Wan-Bissaka has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and he is no longer considered a viable option for the right-back slot. Wan-Bissaka is mediocre going forward and he is much better suited to a role which does not require him to contribute to the offensive phase of the game as well.
It will be interesting to see if Manchester United decide to make a move for Henrichs in the coming months.
The 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for RB Leipzig, and it would be quite surprising if the German outfit decided to part ways with him midway through the season.
It is fair to assume that any move would have to wait until the summer transfer window at the very least.
The opportunity to join a club like Manchester United is certainly an attractive proposition for most players and the 25-year-old could be tempted to join the Premier League outfit as well. He was linked with a move to England, a few years ago.
The Red Devils certainly have the financial resources to pull off the transfer.
Henrichs has proven himself in the German league so far, and he could be open to trying out a new challenge in English football.
However, Manchester United will have to secure Champions League qualification if they were to lure the top talents across European football.
Henrichs has been playing Champions League football with RB Leipzig and it seems unlikely that he will join a club playing Europa league football.
