Turkish giants Fenerbahce have reportedly emerged as a surprised suitor for Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.
According to Fanatik, Anthony Martial has been on the radar of Fenerbahce and they are pondering whether to make a move in January. The French international has been in and out of the team due to recent injury problems and will unlikely get involved against Real Sociedad in the Europa League in some manner.
Despite having limited game time, Martial has been quite productive whenever he has been given a chance this campaign. Three assists and two goals in four matches speak volumes about his talent, and his availability could give the Red Devils a much-needed uplift in the remaining games before the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Manchester United have not tapped into the possibility of cashing in on Martial. The player is tipped to be in Erik ten Hag’s scheme of things and Manchester United have looked better whenever the 26-year-old has taken to the field.
But there have been talks over his consistency as the talented forward has been criticised for his laidback attitude on the pitch. But the Dutch manager is famous for his strict man-management, and there have been flashes of brilliance from the player’s feet. But he has now been offered to Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Martial supplied Marcus Rashford with a brilliant pass against Liverpool and netted a late brace against Manchester City as Manchester United scared the home side with a very late vigour. Goals have been scarce for the Red Devils, and if Martial stays on the heels of the form he showed earlier this season, it could be a game-changing opportunity for him.
Fenerbahce are doing pretty well in the Turkish top flight, as they are leading the table and are three points clear of second-placed Adana Demirspor with a game in hand. The Turkish giants have also qualified for the next round of the UEFA Europa League, and manager Jorge Jesus who has been finding a wide player has been pretty placed by Martial’s display.
Given the current scenario, Manchester United would block any kind of advances in January. But if they receive an overwhelming offer, they might have a change of heart. It will be interesting to see how Martial performs when he returns to action.
