Kamaldeen Sulemana on Manchester United radar

Kamaldeen Sulemana is reportedly in the sights of Manchester United, who will scout the 20-year-old at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Manchester United are set to monitor Stade Rennais’ exciting winger Kamaldeen Sulemana extensively during the upcoming World Cup. That is according to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, who has told GiveMeSport that the talented winger may soon draw considerable interest, with a host of top Premier League clubs monitoring his progress, including the Red Devils.

The Ghanaian international has previously been pursued by Manchester United and Liverpool in the past when coming off the back of an impressive 2020/21 campaign with Nordsjaelland in Denmark. The 20-year-old joined Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in the summer of 2021 in a €20 million deal, which is still a record sale in Danish football.

Sulemana endured a slow-burn start to life in France, owing to consistent injury problems. But the Ghana international has largely impressed during his time in Ligue 1 and has made ten direct goal contributions in 41 appearances so far for the Red and Blacks.

The youngster is primarily a left winger but is comfortable playing anywhere across the forward line and has earned a reputation for being one of the most dangerous dribblers in Ligue 1, often compared to Neymar for that attribute. An 11-cap Ghana international, he is set to feature heavily for his nation at the Qatar World Cup.

GiveMeSport questioned Guardian journalist Ed Aarons if Manchester United could be keeping an eye on Sulemana during the World Cup. The transfer expert believes the Mancunian giants may scout the winger, who he describes as a “very exciting” talent.

Manchester United boast a well-stocked winger department and signed Antony for a club-record fee last summer. But the Red Devils seem to be in the market for another new wide player, going by their consistent links with PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo.

With Cristiano Ronaldo’s future still up in the air, Manchester United could do with a couple of reinforcements in the forward department. Sulemana would be a fine option for United, given summer target, Gakpo is likely to cost an arm and a leg next summer after attracting heavy interest from Barcelona, Arsenal and Real Madrid. Sulemana could prove to be a cost-effective high-return investment in the long run.

With his ball-dominant, close control, progression, and dribble-heavy style of play, Sulemana is an attacking player with tremendous flair and class. The 20-year-old can get supporters off their seats with his dazzling runs and can be a menace to the opposition defenders to cope with.

While the end product is currently lacking, that will come with more experience under his belt and proper coaching. It will be interesting to see whether Manchester United will firm up their interest in Sulemana post-World Cup.
