La Liga heavyweights Real Betis are reportedly keen on signing Barcelona defender Hector Bellerin in a Bosman move next summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Betis will look to make at least half a dozen signings in the 2023 summer transfer window if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League. And one of the players on Los Verdiblancos’ radar is Barcelona defender Hector Bellerin.
Hector Bellerin has endured a topsy-turvy professional career thus far. The Spaniard left Barcelona to join Arsenal over a decade ago and enjoyed a fruitful stint with the Gunners. But he lost his spot as a regular once Mikel Arteta assumed charge of the club a couple of years ago.
The 27-year-old spent a season on loan in La Liga, enjoying a solid 2021/22 campaign with Real Betis. And Bellerin expressed his desire to leave Arsenal upon returning from his temporary stint in Andalusia. The Spanish international finally got his wish on the deadline day in the summer transfer window, rejoining Barcelona.
The player is yet to get going at Spotify Camp Nou, with a calf injury hampering his campaign thus far. He has thus managed only three appearances for Barcelona, garnering 141 minutes of game time. But Bellerin might leave Barcelona as a free agent next summer after only signing a one-year contract. And Real Betis will look to re-sign him in 2023.
Real Betis had shown interest in Bellerin this past summer. But his price tag was beyond Los Verdiblancos, whose financial issues stopped them from re-signing the Spaniard. But bringing the Barcelona defender back to the Benito Villamarin Stadium in a Bosman move next summer is an appealing prospect.
Manuel Pellegrini does not have a reliable right-back at his disposal, so Bellerin is a viable target for Real Betis. And with the 27-year-old at the peak of his powers, he can offer the best years of his career to the Andalusian outfit.
Bellerin will likely be open to rejoining Real Betis, having been desperate to return to the Benito Villamarin Stadium in the summer. And Los Verdiblancos will launch the offensive for the Barcelona defender and other top players if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
