Manchester United and Newcastle United have expressed interest in signing 18-year-old Scottish defensive prodigy Leon King from Rangers.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are keenly watching Scottish defender Leon King. The Red Devils are currently in the transformation phase and will love to have some young talent in their ranks. The 18-year-old Rangers prodigy is also a target for Newcastle United
Manchester United had a busy summer as the Red Devils brought in as many as six players to hand Erik ten Hag a competitive squad this season. Despite the attempts, their struggles have not disappeared completed. And the Red Devils will likely dip into the market again next summer to find solutions to their core problems.
King came through the ranks at Rangers and has finally made his initial breakthrough this season. Injuries to Filip Helander and John Souttar have helped the 18-year-old get a chance to impress in the team, and he has grabbed it with both hands.
Newcastle United are also believed to be an admirer of the player and have watched him on numerous occasions. The Scottish defensive prodigy has been involved in three UEFA Champions League games, while in the Scottish Premiership he has already played five games so far.

King’s current contract will expire next summer, and Rangers will take every possible measure to restrict the player from leaving the Ibrox. The Scottish giants earlier convinced the 18-year-old to sign his first professional contract, and he might be open to extending his stay which could help him in his development.
Newcastle roped in Sven Botman from Lille this summer but are still in for some reinforcements. And King fits the bill perfectly. He has adapted to the Scottish top flight sooner than expected and he could replicate the same in the Premier League too. King is the latest in the line of prodigious talents to emerge on Newcastle’s radar, with the Magpies already signing Garang Kuol.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have shown interest in another defensive prodigy in Antonio Silva. With Harry Maguire’s form wavering, the English defender could find it difficult to win his place back. And Leon King might be the ideal target to be a long-term solution at the heart of the Manchester United defence.
