Liverpool told to pay €25 million for Guido Rodriguez

Liverpool will reportedly have to pay €25 million to sign Argentine midfielder Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis.

According to a report from La Razon, Liverpool are looking to strengthen their central midfield department and have identified the 28-year-old Argentine midfielder as a target. The Reds will need to fork out €25 million to secure his services.

Real Betis had great financial difficulties during the summer transfer window, and they struggled to register some players. It seems that they might be open to the sale of a key player, and Liverpool are looking to make the most of the opportunity.

Liverpool’s midfield woes are well-documented, and Jurgen Klopp needs to bring in a quality midfielder in order to turn things around. The Reds have been quite disappointing this season, and they are currently languishing in the mid-table positions. Guido Rodriguez has done well for Betis and could be a smart signing for the club. The 28-year-old will add presence and defensive discipline in the middle of the park.

Currently, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have been used in the defensive midfield role. But the Liverpool captain has been extremely poor with his performances. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s first-choice defensive midfielder Fabinho is struggling to hit top form and could use more competition.

Rodriguez would not only add quality to the side, but he would also add depth to the squad. Klopp currently desperately needs numbers in the midfield.

The likes of Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have struggled with persistent injury problems. Even summer signing Arthur Melo is ruled out for several months following an injury on the training ground.

Bringing in the right reinforcements during the January transfer window could make or break Liverpool’s season, and the club hierarchy must back their manager in the market. One such player could be Guido Rodriguez.

The report claims that Guido Rodriguez will cost around €25 million. The 28-year-old is at the peak of his powers right now, and he can certainly justify the outlay. Furthermore, the reported asking price seems affordable for a club with Liverpool’s resources.

The player is likely to be tempted to move to Anfield, and it remains to be seen whether all parties can come to an agreement in the coming months.
